(Memphis, TN)Wild Weekend

Postby Solidified » February 25th, 2008, 8:14 pm

Six people were killed in Memphis over the weekend, making it the deadliest weekend so far in 2008.

Officers found a woman shot to death in North Memphis, just before 11:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24 in the 1500 block of Tennyson.

Sunday morning, people who live in the 400 block of South Parkway East said they woke up to the sound of gunshots.

"It woke up the whole neighborhood, block to block, they had the streets blocked off," said one neighbor.

Police say they found Antrell Dedrick, 24, lying on the ground with several gunshot wounds. Neighbors say the trouble started when Dedrick went to a couple's home. Police say Dedrick was confronted by his lover's husband and was shot. 37 year-old Samuletta Boddie was also shot in the hand. Dedrick died at the hospital, and Boddie is recovering. The accused shooter was arrested but has not been charged.

On Saturday, February 23, the bodies of a man and woman were found at a home on Sage Meadow Drive, near Stage and Appling Roads. Officers say they found Christopher Lewis dead in a garage inside a running car. Police say several bottles of alcohol and pills were also found inside the car. The woman, Adrienne Nicole Dee, 32, was found inside the home. Police believe she died from a blow to the head, but an official cause of death has not been determined.

On Friday, February 22, a 37 year-old man died after being shot in North Memphis. Police say Eric Brown was found lying in the front yard of a home in the 2100 block of Hubert Circle North. No one has been arrested in this case.

Also, Friday morning, February 22, police say 47 year-old Michael Wright died of massive head injuries. He was found at a boarding house in the 300 block of Allen near downtown Memphis. Police say no one has been arrested, nor do they have a motive for the attack.
