2 shot to death in Albany Park apartment
September 21, 2009 5:12 AM | No Comments | UPDATED STORY

Two people were shot in an apartment in the Albany Park neighborhood early this morning and later died, police said.

At about 1 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 3500 block of West Sunnyside Avenue.

Witnesses told police the shots came from a third-floor apartment, said Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro. When police entered the apartment they found the man and woman critically wounded in a bedroom, Alfaro said.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the arm and throat. The other victim, a 18-year-old woman, was shot in the abdomen, Alfaro said.

Both were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center but were later pronounced dead, Alfaro said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office has not released the identities of the two victims, but said the woman is possibly 19-years-old and the man 24-years-old.

Police are investigating.
